Reduced Smoking Statistics

Strong evidence suggests that e-cigs reduce the incidence of smoking and its adverse health effects. Since they entered the market, they have been studied as a stop smoking aid, for which the results are very positive. At a March 2011 European Conference on Tobacco and Health, a published survey showed that 57 % of those who responded chose E-Cigarettes over regular cigarettes based on the cost factors of the E-Cigarette alone.

"Statistically speaking,
given the obvious benefit of using the
eCigarette devices to help someone quit smoking,
it is a wonder that more smokers do not use the device."

Quit Smoking Statistics

Another 2011 study by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine showed that more than 30% of E-Cigarette users quit smoking entirely, typically within 6 months of switching to the E-Cigarette. This number, as compared to those who used other methods such as nicotine replacement gums and patches, is quite remarkable because these other quit products, have success rates below 10 %. Even more significant are the health benefits realized before actually quitting smoking altogether.

Health Benefit Statistics

The major benefit to electronic cigarettes is that they do not contain the over 4000 chemicals that regular cigarettes contain. The chemicals they do contain are fewer in concentration and much less harmful to one’s health. In fact, this is evidenced by a report from 2010. The BMC Public Health, another highly respected journal, reported the effects of E-Cigarettes recorded by the device’s users which included:

Users reporting significantly less coughing and improved breathing

Users reporting they felt much more physically fit than usual

Users reporting they feel as if they have more energy

Users reporting felt they were in better overall health

In reality, these benefits mimic those of quitting smoking altogether and certainly tout the benefits to using the e-cigarette to help people quit smoking. Further, the same people stated the e-Liquid flavorings were an improvement over regular cigarette flavorings. Statistically speaking, given the obvious benefit of using the E-Cigarette devices to help someone quit smoking, it is a wonder that more smokers do not use the device.
